BUSIA YMCA SCHOOL – ESTABLISHED IN 1994

LOCATION: BUSIA COUNTY-BUSIA TOWN
PURPOSE:
To provide quality basic education to the disadvantaged children in the community
EDUCATION CENTER
Primary School Education from class 1 to Class 8.
IMPACT
The community supporting the school because of the Christian environment and   standard of education. Best performing pupils joining good schools after class eight exams.

SHAURI MOYO PRIMARY YMCA SCHOOL

LOCATED IN NAIROBI COUNTY

PURPOSE
To offer basic education to the children living in Eastlands.

IMPACT
Best performing pupils have been admitted in good schools after their class 8 Examinations.
Parents in the community support the school by being part of the management.

NAKURU SECONDARY SCHOOL:

LOCATION: NAKURU COUNTY/TOWN
Established in 2007 to offer education to those youth affected by post election violence in 2007/2008.It has single stream classes from form 1 to form 1V.

PURPOSE
To impart knowledge and Christian values using Secondary school syllabus to enable youth grow up as responsible and productive citizens.

BENEFITS/IMPACTS:
Young people from the community accessing affordable education.
Some of the students from the school qualified to join local public university to further their Education. The developed science laboratory has enhanced quality of education in the school.

KIBERA YMCA PRIMARY SCHOOL

LOCATED IN KIBERA SLUMS

IMPACT
The established library services has improved the performance of students in the school and the community since the library is open to other students from the community.
Out of the 16 candidates who sat class 8 exams last year 8 of them were fully sponsored by Y’s Men to join good public secondary schools in the country.

KENYA YMCA COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE

Purpose
To equip the students with agribusiness and tertiary skills to enable them become self reliant.

IMPACT
The College has 100% employment rate. All the graduates are absorbed after graduation.

MERU YMCA:(FOUNDED IN 1958)

PURPOSE
To train and equip students with computer, accounting and Social skills

  1. COURSES OFFERED: Kenya Accounts Technician Course (KATC)

  2. Certified Public Accountant Part 1 to part 6

  3. Computer packages

IMPACT
The centre is currently thebest in the provision of accounting courses. It is known for its gender parity status in its courses. Excellent performance has seen generating surplus income and Central Hostel USD 12,000. More than 40 % of the graduates get absorbed within the local job market.

NATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE- FOUNDED IN 1952

Located
Nairobi County in Eastlands.

Purpose
To offer young people the opportunity to acquire knowledge and technical skills for the job market.

IMPACT:
More than 45 % of the graduate are either self employed or are absorbed by the local companies and firms.
Students on internship programme from the centre are usually absorbed by the employers.

KISUMU YMCA:- FOUNDED IN 1971

Located:
in Kisumu County/Kisumu Town

PURPOSE
To empower young people to acquire vocational skills for self sufficiency

COURSES OFFERED:

  • Electrical Wiring

  • Motor Vehicle Mechanic

  • Garment Making

  • Computer studies

IMPACT:

  • More than 67 % get absorbed in various sectors.

  • Electrical companies in Kisumu usually absorb all the graduates undertaking electrical wiring course.

  • Dressmaking students usually start their own income generating activities.

  • Partners sponsoring students to pursue courses due to its good performance.

MOMBASA YMCA (FOUNDED IN 1954)

LOCATION:
Mombasa County

PURPOSE:
To train career oriented business management, accounting and social studies courses.

COURSES OFFERED:

  1. Kenya Accounts Technician Course

  2. Computer courses

IMPACT:
Students are being offered internship and job opportunities in the local hotel industry and individual business establishments.

KIBERA VOCATIONAL TRAINING: (FOUNDED IN 1976)

LOCATION
KIBERA SLUM

PURPOSE:
To support youth in the slum to acquire basic trade test skills.

COURSES OFFERED:
Dressmaking

IMPACT:
Students are able to earn a living and support their families after getting jobs.

90 % get employment at Kenyatta Market.
